The Council of Ministers today authorised the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) to bid, through Adif High Speed, a contract for the execution of environmental and noise protection actions in the stretch between Monforte del Cid (Alicante) and Murcia, of the new high-speed rail access of Levante, with an estimated value of 25,035,438.5 euros (VAT not included). The actions will be carried out in various points of the provinces of Alicante and Murcia, with an estimated execution time of 30 months.
One of the main projects is the installation of new acoustic protection screens in order to mitigate the noise levels generated by rail movements, after the assessment of the expected noise emissions has been carried out. Thus, 131 acoustic screens with a total length of 11,379 meters (m) and an area of 45,412 square meters (m2) have been projected throughout the analyzed section, contemplating 2 screens of methacrylate, 8 metal double absorption screens, 7 mixed screens and 114 metal screens.
The screens will be of different typology: metallic, double absorption metallic, methacrylate and mixed, with a maximum height of 7 m.
Environmental actions
The contract includes other actions on slopes, where the geogrid will be repaired and repaired, the protectors will be recovered, plant land, hydrosowing and irrigation will be provided. In addition, work will also be done on dismounts, stations, service roads, storage areas, drains and perimeter enclosures.
In the urbanized area of the high-speed train station in Elche, chopped treatments will be carried out on the palms, plantation and shrub maintenance will be carried out and a decorative rocky filling will be installed in the entrance roundabout. In another plot of the Ilician city, shrubs will be planted.
In the Callosa Cox Station, the clearing and recovery of protectors, contribution of plant land, hydroseeding and irrigation of implantation and maintenance will be carried out in the urbanization area in the roundabout and in the area of the viaduct of Callosa Cox. In another plot annexed to the disused plot and other points such as service roads, will proceed to the removal and management of waste, weeding, contribution of plant land and hydrosowing and placement of signage.
In the whole line they will be done adaptations in perimeter enclosures To limit the passage against lagomorphic mammals (rabbits or hares) and repair tasks of enclosures. Likewise, the longitudinal ditches will be adapted and ramps will be placed in the arches to facilitate the exit of small fauna.
The set of actions contemplated in this contract contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 (Health and Welfare), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
