The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided together with the General Head of the VI Zone of the Civil Guard of the C.Valenciana, Arturo Prieto, the takeover of the new Colonel Head of the Command of Castellón, Ángel Gil. The deputy delegate of the Government in Castellón, Soledad Ten, also attended the event.
The delegate has recognized the “dedication, effort, effectiveness and professionalism” of the men and women who make up the Civil Guard. Bernabé has highlighted the work carried out by the Armed Institute in the fight against gender violence. In this regard, the delegate pointed out that “gender violence exists and must be called by its name to combat it. The Civil Guard – he said – contributes “to the daily fight against male violence on all fronts: prevention, assistance and protection for victims”.
Likewise, he stressed that agents face “the challenges of today’s society” that go through new forms of crime “that are camouflaged behind networks or social polarization and their blatant consequence, reflected in hate crimes.”
In Castellón, the delegate said, there are more than 1,300 agents assigned who guarantee “the security and protection of people” in “a province where the phenomenon of depopulation is especially experienced” and whose action is “totally necessary”.
Bernabé has claimed the role played by the Armed Institute in disasters and accidents, some of them due to climate change such as floods or fires. “Last year’s terrible fires and the most recent ones in Viver are proof that the Civil Guard is there where it is needed,” he concluded.
