The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided, together with the Chief General of the Sixth Zone of the Civil Guard of Valencia, Arturo Prieto, the commemoration of the 179 anniversary of the foundation of the Armed Institute that has been held in the facilities of the Cardinal Herrera University-CEU of Alfara del Patriarca.
In this act, the delegate has recognized the “dedication, effort, effectiveness and professionalism” of the men and women who make up the Civil Guard “one of the security forces of the State “most loved, admired and valued”.
Bernabé recalled that the Civil Guard provides citizen security work in 515 municipalities of the Valencian Community, which means that it offers coverage in 90% of the Valencian territory and almost half of its total population.
The delegate has highlighted the “commendable work” carried out by the Benemérita in those areas that suffer the phenomenon of depopulation and “where the Civil Guard is so necessary, as a guarantee of the security and protection of people and their property.”
He also highlighted the efforts of the Armed Institute to increase the presence of women in the workforce, “in the interest of achieving real equality between men and women.” According to him, 9% of the total number of Civil Guard officers are women.
Currently, 7,417 officers of the Civil Guard are active in the Valencian Community. Of the total, 1,311 are destined in the province of Castellón; 3,479, in the province of Valencia and 2,627, in the province of Alicante.
