· Bernabé highlights that Dénia has become “a reference in La Marina” by attracting aid thanks “to the work and projects presented by the City Council”
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited today the city of Dénia and the performances in the Verger Baix del Castillo cofinanced by the 1.5% Cultural of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and the City of Malaga. In this visit, the delegate has been accompanied by the mayor of the city, Vicente Grimalt and the subdelegate of the Government in Alicante, Araceli Poblador.
Pilar Bernabé has highlighted “the collaboration between administrations” to recover the cultural heritage of Diananense. In fact, the works to be developed in the area of the Verger Baix amount to about 700,000 euros, of which 500,000 euros are contributed by the 1.5% Cultural program of the Mitma. These actions, as the delegate said, represent “a strategic opportunity” for Dénia and the Marina region since they combine “the recovery of cultural heritage with sustainability and accessibility” and “will have a direct impact on the tourism sector and the economy of the area”.
The works that are being developed affect three sectors of activity, that of the Verger Baix and battery of the Sea, that of the Portal del Reis and dels Socors and the Galliner Tower. Finally, with the opening of the Portal del Reis and del Socors, the castle will be connected to the sea and the seafaring district of Baix la Mar, as well as facilitating the flow of cultural tourism from the Museu del Mar to the fortress.
In 2021, the restoration of the Verger Alt and Baluarte Oriental area was completed with a cost of around 500,000 euros cofinanced by the City Council and the Generalitat within the FEDER 2014-2020 program.
The delegate has also valued the work and projects presented by the City of Dénia that has become “a reference in La Marina” in the acquisition of aid from the different administrations with which to favor the economic, social and patrimonial development of the city. In this regard, Barnabas recalled the more than 8 million euros that Dénia receives from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Of the total, stand out the 6.2 million euros for the Tourist Sustainability Plans in Destination or the 1.5 M€ for the intelligent and sustainable digital transformation of the commercial sector of Dénia.
