The Government of Spain has supported the tourism sector of the Valencian Community, on the day when FITUR 2023, the International Tourism Fair held at IFEMA, hosts the Day of the Valencian Community. The delegate of the Government, Pilar Bernabé, together with the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Tourism and of Science and Innovation, Reyes Maroto and Diana Morant, respectively, visited the stand of the Comunitat.
After her visit, the Minister of Industry stressed that “the Valencian Community has been one of the most desired destinations for national and international tourists in 2022”, while advancing a 2023 “that is faced with optimism and hope and that will improve the data”. Maroto has advanced that it will continue with tourism initiatives based on “sustainability and digitalization” to use the tourism sector as “a lever for social development”. The minister recalled that investments in the tourism sector with the European Funds already exceed €130M, a figure that highlights “the commitment of the Government with the C.Valenciana”. In addition, he has highlighted as a “positive element in support of the Comunitat” and an “example of the decentralization policies of the Government”, the location of the headquarters of the Smart Tourism Platform in Benidorm “which is already a reality as an instrument for the development, digitalization and transformation of tourist destinations”.
Maroto has also highlighted the investments destined to the C. Valenciana through the PERTE VEC that has received the Sagunto gigantic and has been convinced that “the second line in which the Government is working will strengthen the commitment with Ford in a project to develop in the coming years” and has also qualified as “good news” Ford’s commitment to the Almussafes factory for the development of new models.
For her part, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, has valued “the work developed by the C. Valencian that has consolidated policies that were already working and has reinvented others to turn it into an intelligent, sustainable and inclusive tourist destination.” The C.Valenciana “is an example of what we want from the Government of Spain and knows that it can count on the Executive”.
Meanwhile, the delegate of the Government in the Valencian C, Pilar Bernabé has insisted on “the capacity for work and reinvention” of the tourism sector, while indicating the “unprecedented support” it has had from the Executive of Pedro Sánchez.
As the delegate recalled, the latest report of Turespaña points out that the C.Valenciana is the fifth community in increase of employment in the tourism sector. Thus, with data from last December, the C.Valenciana has 182,630 members of Social Security with an increase of 5.5%.
Bernabé has highlighted the €134M of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan that has been allocated to tourism activities in the C.Valenciana or the €131M of investments of this Plan that have been managed by the Comunitat itself. At the same time, it has also highlighted the 3M€ destined to markets in tourist areas. For the Government of Spain -Bernabé- tourism "is a strategic sector for the Comunitat" and therefore "there is a clear commitment to promote it". In this line, the delegate has highlighted the € 6M received by Benidorm for the plan “Benidorm, vision 360”; another € 6M, from the National Gastronomic Tourism Plan, for the #Tastinglife plan of Denia or the € 3M for the city of Alcoi within the Tourist Sustainability Plans in destination.
