The Government Delegate met this morning with Rafael Mejías Goñi, who next Friday at 10 a.m. will be awarded the “Meninas” prize, eleventh edition, in an event that will be held in the Throne Room of the Assembly Palace.
Inspector Mejías joined the Family and Women’s Unit in Ceuta in mid-2021, taking charge of the Investigation Unit and the Unit for the Protection of Women Victims of Gender Violence, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assaults and the Attestations with minors involved, both offenders and victims.
Since its incorporation, its personal and professional commitment has been evident, carrying out the coordination of the police components in its charge, to achieve excellence in the result of the various investigations carried out by this Unit, in the care of women, in the most critical moments for the victims, with its guidance and support for the rapid resolution of the complaints filed, guaranteeing the safety and protection of each and every one of the women who have passed through the group in these years.
His will and involvement make him worthy of the award given his ability to encourage the members of his team, encouraging the development of all the potentialities and skills of each of them.
The values to be highlighted are the capacity for comprehensive police action, combining prevention, investigation, protection and care for victims. Empathy and sensitivity with the victims, gender perspective, tolerance and respect for diversity, professionalism and flexibility in the work.
In permanent contact with the other bodies responsible for combating violence against women, the National Police activated the Protocol of Collaboration between the Unit for Coordination and Violence against Women of the Delegations and Subdelegations of the Government, the National Police and the UPUAC of the Local Police, for the Protection of Victims of Gender Violence, and has also held meetings with all levels involved in the care of women victims of violence from the heads of the courts, the medical services, the Unit for the Coordination of Gender Violence of the Delegation of the Government, the Social Uta Center,
