35 women have been killed so far this year, which means an increase of 8 with respect to 2022, since as of July 27 women were killed. In addition, these murderers leave other victims, in this case orphans, a total of 39.
As for the number of fatalities in Ceuta, there are no regrets in this exercise, but the victimizations, that is, the cases of gender violence that VIOGEN throws in our city during this 2023 amount to a total of 141, compared to 122 in the same period last year.
Livia Rosales, head of the Department of Gender Violence of the Delegation insists that “this social scourge is not an issue that only the public authorities have to face, but the whole of society, since we can all contribute, not only by denouncing violent behavior, but also by accompanying the victims throughout the process”.
Rosales also highlights the importance of education because “it is a vital instrument so that from a very young age there is a clear and decisive awareness that this is a problem that does not only affect women”.
In addition, summer is a particularly committed time and the Government Delegation against Gender Violence insists that "we must be especially alert to the most extreme gender violence",
