- Prieto meets with Mayor Lourdes Borrell to tackle the Rodalies line’s landfill works
- The groundwork and the new station are budgeted for a value of 122 million euros
Sant Feliu de Llobregat, September 12, 2023.- The delegate of the Government in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, visited this Tuesday the city of Sant Feliu de Llobregat where he signed in the book of honor and met with the mayor Lourdes Borrell and part of his government team to follow up the project of underground the railway tracks of the R4 line of Rodalies.
The mayor thanked the government delegate in Catalonia for visiting the capital of the Baix Llobregat and appreciated his interest in monitoring the works. Prieto has highlighted the good rhythm of the works promoted by the Spanish government that represent a “great urban transformation” for the municipality since “they will eliminate the scars, this barrier between the two parts of the city” and will make Sant Feliu de Llobregat “a more friendly, open city with more green spaces for the neighbors so they can walk and enjoy this space”.
The delegate recalled that the project has a budget of about 122 million euros to operate on 3 kilometers of railway tracks of which almost 1.5 kilometers will be buried. This figure also includes the installation of the catenary, as well as a “new modern station” integrated in the urban project planned by the consistory.
Prieto also highlighted the improvement in safety that will mean the elimination of the level crossing in a place of high traffic and pedestrian density, and was convinced that the project will be completed in a maximum of 3 years.
The project of underground railway lines to remove urban barriers and improve railway traffic will also be carried out in municipalities such as l’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Montcada i Reixac.
