September 5, 2023 – The Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, approved on Tuesday the distribution of 37,418,023 euros to Catalonia, from the funds of 0.7% of the Personal Income Tax (PERSONAL INCOME TAX) and the Corporate Tax of the year 2021 to subsidize activities of social interest, which represents an increase of 10.89% compared to the funds received in 2022.
The total investment for the beneficiary autonomous communities and cities amounts to 295,300,789 euros, 14.41% more than the distribution of the previous year. In this year 2023, it is 80% of the total collected funds of 0.7%. This percentage is reached for the first time, after the agreement in the Territorial Council of Social Services and the SAAD of June 18, 2021, which established that the state stretch would be progressively reduced in favor of the autonomic until reaching the 20-80 proportion in this year.
In addition to this autonomous distribution, the aid of the state section, which raises the final investment of 2021 to 369,125,986 euros, which means an increase of 13.41% of the funds to be distributed this 2023 compared to the previous year.
This increase is due in part to the progressive recovery of economic activity after the crisis resulting from the pandemic in 2020, since it must be taken into account that the amount to be distributed corresponds to the collection of the fiscal year two years prior to the present.
Funding of programs and activities of social interest
The grants that are the subject of the regional calls will be intended to cover the specific needs of social assistance aimed at the care of people in situations of poverty and social exclusion or who are in other situations of special vulnerability within the competence of the autonomous communities and cities.
The distribution of funds of this call has been made according to the agreement between the Ministry of Social Rights and the autonomous communities and cities in the Territorial Council last June 2021, which, among other criteria, guaranteed to all the autonomies a minimum increase of 5% with respect to the funds received in the year 2022.
