Castelldefels, January 23, 2023.- The delegate of the Government in Catalonia, Maria Eugènia Gay, on Monday made an institutional visit to the town of Castelldefels where she met with the mayor, María Miranda, and members of the municipal government team to know the specific needs of the municipality.
During the meeting, different topics have been addressed, such as the aid received by the Castle of the Feder Funds, and they have also commented on the aid of the Next Generation funds received by the town through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism for promoting cultural tourism in the municipality.
At the end of the meeting, the delegate signed the book of honor of the Consistory and, together with the first mayor, went to the Castell de Castelldefels, where they made a brief tour and visited the Centre d´Interpretació de la Pirateria de Castelledefels. They have also visited the Mirador del Castillo.
The Castell is built on an old Iberian village and a Roman villa. It consists of a church, built in the 10th century and later fortified in the 14th and 15th centuries, several buildings and apartments, built between the 14th and 18th centuries, and extensive gardens. In 1988, the City of Castelldefels acquired the Castell and, in these years, has invested more than 8 million euros in its reconstruction.
Next, the slim visited the Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO). Accompanied by its director, Lluís Torner, and part of its management team, they have toured the facilities and got to know first-hand the Nano Fabrication Lab (NFL) as well as the projects and Spin Offs in which they currently work.
L´Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO), is a research center of excellence with lines of research that reach several areas in which photonics plays a decisive role.
To conclude the day, the delegate visited the Paseo Maritimo, a green space that has become a sustainable place for family use , as well as an element of tourism promotion.
