July 24, 2025.- Unemployment fell by 1,600 people in the second quarter in Castilla y León to 96,900 unemployed, 1.6 percent less than the previous quarter, according to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). With the fall of the second quarter, the unemployment rate in the region stands at 8.46 percent.
This number of unemployed is the lowest in a second quarter since 2007. In the second quarter the number of employed in Castilla y León grew by 14,300 people and the number of employees in the Community is 1,047,800, the highest number of occupation in a second quarter since 2008.
Meanwhile, the number of assets stood at the end of the second quarter at 1,144,700 people in the region, after increasing in the last three months by 12,700 people, an additional 1.12 percent.
Women and youth
In the last year unemployment has decreased by 13,300 people (-12.1 percent) in Castilla y León and 35,300 jobs have been created, 3.5 percent more while the volume of assets has increased by 22,000 people, he reports.
By gender, in the second quarter female unemployment fell by 700 women (-1.4%), compared to a decline in male unemployment of 1,000 unemployed (-2.1%). With these data, the number of unemployed women stood at 50,800 and the female unemployment rate at 9.56% . Meanwhile, 46,000 men were unemployed at the end of the quarter, with a male unemployment rate of 7.51%.
As for young people, the number of unemployed people under 25 years of age in Castilla y León fell by 800 people in the last three months to put the youth unemployment rate at 23.44%.
According to the INE, the number of employees with an indefinite contract rose by 5,500 people in the second quarter in the region and the number of temporary employees increased by 14,100. After these changes, the number of employees stood at 873,500, of whom 731,900 had an indefinite contract (83.79%) and 141,600 temporary (16.21%).
Job creation in the second quarter in Castilla y León was highest in the private sector, which generated 13,400 jobs, 1.63% more, up to a total of 836,700 employed. On the other hand, the public sector created 900 new jobs, 0.43% more than in the previous quarter up to 211,100 jobs.
The number of full-time workers increased by 16,000 in the second quarter (+1.83%) in the community to 892,600. On the other hand, part-time employees decreased by 1,700 (-1.08%), to 155,200 people.
By sector, unemployment fell in Agriculture, 4,300 less (-62.32%); Services, 4,200 less (-9.77%); Construction, 300 less (-6.67%), while it increased in Unemployed people who seek first job or have left their last job more than 1 year ago, 6,600 more (+17.74%); Industry, 600 more (+8.7%)
