Nicanor Sen attends the inauguration of the Valle de Tobalina Municipal Hostel in the province of Burgos
Energy efficiency and accessibility, keys in the reform of this hostel located in one of the most touristic areas of the province of Burgos
Quintana Martin Galindez (BURGOS) July 21, 2025.- Nicanor Sen, government delegate in Castilla y León, attends the inauguration of the renovation works of the municipal hostel of Valle de Tobalina, located in Quintana Martin Galindez in the province of Burgos
The modernization and improvement of the hostel of the Tobalina Valley, located in Quintana Martín Galíndez has involved an investment of 1,131,712€, of which almost one million have been subsidized thanks to the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP LOCAL), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The building had been in operation for more than 50 years and it was necessary to adapt it to the parameters of energy efficiency, and eliminate architectural barriers that hindered or prevented access to people with reduced mobility.
With this investment, the facilities have been modernized, seeking a significant reduction in their energy consumption.
The interventions include the implementation of an aerothermal system for heating and the production of sanitary hot water, and the installation of a ventilation system with heat recovery, which in addition to improving air quality minimizes energy losses. The facades have also been isolated, which in addition to reducing energy losses have given a more current image to the whole. In addition, window carpentry has been replaced. These actions are expected to reduce energy consumption by 30%.
On the other hand, the building has been provided with more accessibility in all its facilities, such as rooms, bathrooms, etc. In addition, access ramps have been installed to the hostel and the auditorium, and an elevator has been installed to the upper floor where the rooms are located.
The Hostal Valle de Tobalina has 17 rooms and has a restaurant and cafeteria. It is a fundamental installation to serve all the neighbors of the Valley and a key piece for the tourist development of the area.
In his words, the delegate has expressed the importance of these funds as “an extraordinary contribution in establishing population, creating wealth and promoting the quality of life in our peoples”.
