June 23, 2025. According to foreign trade data for the month of April, published today by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, exports from Castilla y León reached 1,748.6 million euros, while imports totaled 1,356.7 million euros, resulting in a positive balance of 391.9 million euros; the Trade Balance of Castilla y León closed in positive and recorded a coverage rate of 128.8%.
Provinces
By province, during the month of April 2025, the highest value of exports was recorded in Valladolid (833.5 million €), followed by Burgos (365.2 million €) and Salamanca (165.5 million €), followed by León (126 million €), Palencia (94.4 million €), Segovia (67.3 million €), Soria (47 million €), Zamora (34.4 million €) and Ávila (15.1 million €).
In relative terms, the most important increase this month was that of Salamanca (+86.5%), followed by the provinces of Valladolid (+37.8%) and Ávila (+14.8%). In contrast, Palencia (-62.7%) and León (-11.2%) have suffered a decline in their export figures.
Geographical distribution
Data from April confirm that Europe remains the main market for Castilla y León (78.4% of the total), and there is an increase in activity compared to the previous year, since sales to this area have grown by 4.5%. France, Belgium and Portugal are listed as the most important destinations, while Germany is down by 13%. In the case of sales to the euro zone (57.6% of the total), they increased by 6.8%, and those destined for the rest of the European Union (8.4% of the total) decreased by 1.5%.
On the other hand, sales to the rest of Europe show a slight decrease of 1.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, representing 12.3% of foreign sales of Castilla y León. The United Kingdom is positioned in April as the main customer in the area, with 5.6% of the total; sales to this country have risen by 2.4%. Turkey is in second place, 4% of the total, with a decrease of 11.5% compared to the same month last year.
Outside Europe, increased exports from Castilla y León to the following major area categories: Africa (+195.8%), North America (+17%), Oceania (+13.1%), Latin America (+11.9%) and Asia excluding the Middle East (+0.3%). While those aimed at the Middle East declined (-6.1%).
America (8.2% of the total) has placed second as export destination, having increased by 14.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. By country, exports to the United States stand out, representing 3.2% of the total with an increase of 11.1%, as well as to Brazil, 1.2% of the total.
Africa ranks third, with 7.5% of the total. The main trading partner remains Morocco (6% of the total) and sales to this country have increased by 439.5% compared to the same month last year.
Asia occupies the fourth position, with 5.2% of the total and a decrease of 1% compared to the same month of 2024. In Asia (excl. The Middle East) shows the highest increases in exports compared to last year in Japan (+55%) and India (+156.2%). While among the main customers, South Korea (-24.8%), and China (-11.1%) have decreased. In the Middle East, an increase of 44.1% is observed in Saudi Arabia.
Sectoral distribution
The Automotive Sector is back in the top position (38.4% of the total), with an increase of 16.6% compared to the previous year. Followed by non-chemical semimanuinvoices, which reaches 16.3% of the total and shows a decrease of 5%. Exports of Other non-chemical semi-manufactures (mainly tyres and chambers), Paper and Non-ferrous metals predominate.
Thirdly, Food, Beverages and Tobacco (15%) has been located, which shows a decrease of 7.5% compared to the previous year, and where the sale of Meat Products, Food Preparations and Dairy Products and eggs should be highlighted. Followed by Capital goods (14.3% of the total) with a rise of 50.2% and Chemicals (10.5%), which increased by 11.7%.
For its part, the exports corresponding to Consumer Manufactures (3.2% of the total) experienced a growth of 17.9% in the month of April compared to the same month of the previous year.
