The Government allocates 3.9 million euros to 9 initiatives in Castilla y León for the creation of Sectoral Data Spaces
June 18, 2025.- The Government allocates 3.9 million euros to 9 initiatives in Castilla y León for the creation of Sectoral Data Spaces. The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, has published the final resolution proposal of two calls for grants aimed at the creation and support of Sectoral Data Spaces: the second call for Demonstrators and Cases of Use of Data Spaces and the first call for Technological Products and Services for Data Spaces.
The two motions for resolutions provide support for 187 innovative projects, spread throughout the territory, with an investment of up to 93.7 million euros, which will mobilize more than 175 million euros, adding the contributions of the beneficiaries.
A highlight of this call is the remarkable territorial capillarity of the subsidized projects, which are present in the vast majority of the autonomous communities. This wide distribution ensures that the impetus and benefits of this aid extend significantly throughout the national territory, reflecting a commitment to territorial cohesion and the development of the different regions.
The initiatives, distributed by key sectors such as health, agri-food and sustainable mobility, seek to boost productivity, competitiveness and efficiency through the sharing of data between manufacturers, researchers and infrastructure providers. With these projects, strategic sectors will be able to extract value from data, empowering informed decision-making, technological innovation and resource optimization.
2nd Call for Demonstrators and Cases of Use of Data Spaces
The final resolution of this initiative has been published, which aims to finance the costs of data space developers in strategic sectors of the economy. It offers two lines of financing:
· Demonstration centers: oriented to the creation of data space platforms to perform pilots and concept tests.
· Use cases: oriented to the real application in exploitation of data sharing and processing technologies for the achievement of a business objective in the data space ecosystem.
Castile and Leon:
In this call, a total of 2,189,261.6M€ has been awarded for the projects:
-University of Salamanca. Public Agency. Health Sector. 1.449.062.00 €
- Genovis. Private Company of Zamora of the agri-food sector. 333,964.80€
-Andrés Grupo Empresarial. Private Company of Salamanca in the Environmental and Biodiversity sector. 406.234,80 €.
1st Call for Technological Products and Services for Data Spaces
The final resolution of this initiative has been published, which seeks to finance the technology industry to develop products and services for data spaces that respond to the demand of promoters and participants.
Castile and Leon:
In this call for proposals, in Castilla y León, grants amounting to €1,741,400.69M have been granted to the following projects:
-Undanet Group. Private company of Salamanca of the environmental sector. 454.525.80€.
-Miranda de Ebro Technology Center Foundation. Private agency of Burgos. 228.351,60 €.
-Luce Innovative Technologies. Private company of Valladolid of the agri-food sector. 483.602,50 €.
- Telecyl. Private company of Valladolid dedicated to digital marketing. 135.665,60 €.
-Digital on Trusted Serices. Private ICT company of lild. 136.237,60 €.
-Toribio innovation solutions. Private company of Segovia of the agri-food sector. 303.017.59 €.
Istrategic impact in key sectors
The development of Sectoral Data Spaces marks a milestone in the country’s digital economy. The productive sectors show a high interest in the data economy, which favors the growth of the digital industry and technological transformation in critical areas such as:
· Health: initiatives that promote the sharing of clinical data between hospitals, applying artificial intelligence to improve the diagnosis and early detection of diseases such as cancer, through image analysis.
· Agrofood: projects integrating IoT sensor data and aerial photography to improve crop efficiency. Adding data from several companies, as well as data with meteorological data, will allow to optimize the efficiency of the crops contributing to a more sustainable agriculture.
· Sustainable Mobility: use cases where local and regional public transport companies will share data with private companies to optimize routes, improve the supply-demand balance and increase profitability, all with a positive impact on the service to the citizen.
Distribution of beneficiaries
Of the total grants proposed, 82% of the projects selected have been submitted by private entities, which will receive 71% of the total grant allocated. On the other hand, 18% of projects have been promoted by public bodies, which will receive 29% of the total amount. This distribution reflects a strategic balance between public-private collaboration, ensuring that both companies and public institutions are actively involved in boosting the data economy.
Alignment with European and national goals
At the national level, these calls are part of the Plan to Promote Sectoral Data Spaces, which aims to promote innovation and improve competitiveness and value generation in all economic sectors, promoting the creation of data spaces where data can be shared securely. Within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan they are included in investment 1 of component 12, contributing to the construction of the Single Data Market in Europe. The data economy has become a key driver of innovation and growth, with the value of this market in the EU estimated to reach EUR 851 billion by 2030.
