The MICIU will allocate 23 million euros to 123 Spanish R&D&I projects through grants to ‘International Collaboration Projects’
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), through the State Research Agency (AEI), has published the proposed resolution of the 2025 direct grant procedure for scientific, technical and innovation research projects that are the subject of bilateral or multilateral research and innovation programme agreements and require national funding. • The announcement of these grants is part of the State Program of Transfer and Collaboration, within the State Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation (2024-2027). • The objective is to facilitate the collaboration of the different implementing agents of R+D+I and promote the development of joint calls with national funding agencies of other countries or international agencies that are aimed at high-impact projects in any area of knowledge, favoring the leadership of Spanish groups.
Madrid, May 30, 2025.- The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), through the State Research Agency (AEI), has published the motion for resolution of the 2025 call for aid
‘PCI International Collaboration Projects’, endowed with 23 million euros, which will go to a total of 123 projects.
These grants are intended for research projects selected in competitive European or international calls for proposals, which are the subject of bilateral or multilateral research and innovation programme agreements requiring national funding. Thus, through this aid, the Spanish part of these projects will be financed.
In the call 2025, scientific, technical and innovation research projects developed by autonomous and state research centers and agencies, public and private foundations and universities based in 15 autonomous communities will be funded: Andalusia, Aragon, Balearic Islands, Valencia, Canary Islands, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre, Basque Country and the Principality of Asturias.
The grants ‘International Collaboration Projects’ are part of the State Program of Transfer and Collaboration, within the State Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation (2024-2027).
Programs selected by international calls
These grants fund projects selected in calls for programmes such as ERA-Net COFUND and Partnerships of the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Programme Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) and Horizon Europe (2021-2027), which are based on grant agreements signed between the European Commission and participating countries and consortium agreements signed by participating partners.
Promotion of transnational collaboration
The objective of the programmes in which PCI aid is framed is to promote joint calls with funding agencies from different European countries and third countries, in order to facilitate the collaboration of PCI grants.
