April 26, 2024. The Ministry of Defense has awarded 5,211,638.48 euros and a period of execution of 24 months the works to improve the energy efficiency and thermal envelope of the Conde de Gazola Base, located in the municipality of San Andrés del Rabanedo (León), as stated in the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
Associated with the Regeneration and Demographic Challenge Program of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the project is financed with European funds through the aid of the DUS 5000 program and plans to provide the military base with a biomass heat network that will allow an energy efficiency improvement of 30% and economic savings of more than 70%.
The new heat network will run buried by the base’s internal service lines until it enters the 34 buildings in which it intends to serve. In this way, the propane and diesel tanks that currently provide fuel to the heating boilers existing in the quartering will be left out of service.
The performance includes the construction of a container building that will house the boiler room and the biomass tank and that will have a total useful area of 927 square meters. In addition, the surrounding improvement of the buildings that make up the military base will be carried out, with actions in facades, roofs and carpentry.
