The Delegation refers to the Government 732 requests for aid from the areas affected by the ‘Juan’ storm

• Municipalities and deputations of the areas of the four provinces declared as areas seriously affected by civil protection emergencies (ZAGEPC) -Valladolid, Ávila, Soria and Segovia- have valued the damages at 14 million euros • The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory convened a line of subsidies that will reach up to 50% of the expenses derived from the recovery of damages caused to municipal infrastructures and the provincial road network

April 16, 2024. The Government Delegation in Castilla y León headed by Nicanor Sen has already sent to the Government the requests for Community aid for the recovery of damages caused in municipal infrastructures and in the provincial road network and that allow to pay 50% of the expenses.

At the beginning of March, the Executive declared an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency (ZAGEPC) the areas of the provinces of Ávila, Soria, Segovia and Valladolid that were affected by the floods as a result of the storm ‘Juan’ that struck the Community in January, as well as the strong snow episode that was recorded on the 19th and 20th of the same month in the province of Soriana.

Immediately, the Government Delegation in Castilla y León, through the corresponding subdelegations, transferred to municipalities and deputies in these four provinces the possibility of benefiting from the line of subsidies managed by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory for the recovery of damages caused in municipal infrastructures and in the provincial road network, which allows to pay 50% of the expenses, prompting them to submit the relevant applications, a procedure that has been completed with the reception of 732 applications and an assessment of the damages amounting, in total, to 14 million euros.

The Delegation has already made available to the Ministry all the information on the estimated costs of the repair or restitution works of the damage that these accidents have caused to the municipal infrastructures and the provincial road network so that the processing continues.

By province, 421 applications have been received from the province of Ávila, for an estimated amount of 5.3 million euros; 201 from Segovia, 1.8 million; 51 from Soria, 6 million, and 53 from Valladolid, with damages valued at 759,787 euros.

It should be added that the declaration of ZAGEPC by the Government also reached, in terms of fires, the areas affected by the fire that was registered in Arcos de Jalón (Soria) in September 2023 and that which originated in the Leonese town of Matalavilla, in the municipality of Palacios del Sil, in November of that same year, also activating the right of these territories to participate in this aid. In this regard, the requests of the province of Soria include these claims, although from the province of León no request has been received because the damages were not adapted to the criteria of the call.
