April 9, 2024. The subdelegate of the Government, Marian Rueda, has visited the Park and Center of Maintenance of Armoured Systems No. 2 (PCMASA 2), located on the avenue of the Constitution of Segovia.
The subdelegate toured the facilities, accompanied by the colonel in charge, Miguel García Santiago, in a visit in which the lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard, Benito Donate, and the chief commissioner of the National Police, Miguel Ángel Martínez, also participated.
The PCMASA 2, which has 70,000 square meters of extension, is responsible for the maintenance of armoured and mechanized materials. It is therefore responsible for the maintenance of all the vehicles of the Spanish Army units of:
- TOA, armoured caterpillar transport M-113
- ATP, self-propelled M-109 A5E shells
- CENTAURO, Cavalry Reconnaissance Vehicle
- TOM, Mountain Caterpillar Transport BV-206
- special recovery carts, shoemakers and bridge launchers
Among its tasks are the maintenance of 4th EMAN fleets in charge; receiving, storing and distributing spare parts to fleets of Spanish Army units; the management of service and supply contracts, carrying out inspection and quality control; systems engineering and technical body of improvements and modifications of vehicles; removal of non-repairable or obsolete material.
The PCMASA 2 is organized into three main units:
- Supply Unit (UABTO) Press release
- Technical Maintenance Unit (UTM)
- General Staff and Services Company (CIAPLMSv)
The center was created on July 22, 1802, under the name of Maestranza of the 5th Artillery Department. It went through different changes, such as becoming an Artillery Parts Maintenance Unit, until in 1942 it was called the Mixed Base of Tanks and Tractors. In June 1998, it adopted its current name, PCMASA 2.
It houses a magnificent collection of armoured vehicles from different eras, located in the lobby and on the outside of the nave sees control, along the garden.
