Nicanor Sen highlights that in the last year alone the Government has invested more than 5 million euros in Peñafiel
Visit to the Castle
April 2, 2024.- The government delegate, Nicanor Sen, visited on Tuesday the town of Peñafiel, where he was able to officially ‘bless’ the restoration works of the Castle to which the Government of Spain has contributed 840,000 euros of the 1.5 million that these works have entailed.
It has been the institutional collaboration of the municipality of the town, the provincial institution of Valladolid and the Central Executive that has allowed to intervene in the barbacana, the north patio and the adarves increasing the visible surface, making it accessible, improving the signage of the castle itself and the environment, and allowing to enable a new room that explains its history with images and models.
Sen has been accompanied on his visit by the president of the Diputación in Valladolid, Conrado Íscar, and the mayor of the town, Roberto Díez, who have guided this tour of the National Monument that currently hosts the Valladolid Wine Museum.
The central government’s investment in this intervention has been made through the 1.5% Cultural Program of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA).
Likewise, the mayor has informed the government delegate of the status of processing of the DUS 5000 that it will involve an investment of 1.35 million in improvements in energy efficiency of lighting, acquisition of electric vehicles and implementation of charging points, and installation of photovoltaic energy obtaining systems in the municipality.
The government delegate highlighted the Government of Spain’s commitment to “revitalize the territory, generate employment and economic activity, promote entrepreneurial proposals that are rooted in our rural environment”. “In this fight for the demographic challenge is the Government of Spain with a multitude of small and large works throughout the Community that aim to contain population data and bring all the shine to the enormous wealth of this large and diverse territory,” said Sen before adding that “only in 2023 the central executive approved an investment of more than 5 million for the municipality of Peñafiel.”
This figure responds to the aforementioned DUS 5000, to the 2.1 million that the Ministry of Transport contributes to the agreement with the regional administration and the City of Peñafiel to rehabilitate 115 homes in the historic center and to the Tourism Sustainability Plan of Peñafiel for which 1.5 million were approved as main investments “of a Government that pays as much attention to the large projects as to those initiatives that stand out less for their amount, but that are much more comforting for bringing relief, a possibility, an improvement, to the people”.
