On the other hand, we must not forget a series of tips during these dates to ensure safety:
TO AVOID BURGLARY:
- Extreme the precautions
- Not trusting strangers
- Don’t lose sight of your belongings, nor separate from them in public places
- Keep an eye on your bag or purse in crowds, carrying your purse in a safe place where you can feel them with ease, avoiding the front pockets of the shirts, when they do not have buttons and zippers, as well as back pockets of the pants
- It is preferable not to carry backpacks or personal items in the back pockets and to keep the bag closed
- Protect your video or photographic camera in places of recreation, as well as handbags, not leaving them either on the floor or hanging from the chairs of the terraces, where it is easy to subtract them.
- Be vigilant when you come into physical contact with other people
- It is advisable to carry loose money to avoid taking out the wallet
- Never take money out of your bank at the request of strangers, even if they offer you, apparently, a big business
- If you are going to make purchases, avoid carrying all the money in the same wallet or bag, and if you are going to take money from an ATM check that no one follows you or observes
- Do not accept help from strangers who supposedly want to help you, because on many occasions behind that will hides a criminal who wants to take advantage of an oversight to seize his money. If you have any problems or suspicions, go to the bank’s staff or leave the cashier after cancelling the transaction
- Do not trust suspicious aids (notice of stains on clothing, breakdowns of your vehicle, sale of carnations that place them on the flap, requests for handouts requested through a poster, usually cardboard, etc.)
- Do not accept easy businesses or games of chance, the well-known timos of LA ESTAMINA, TOCOMOCHO, the sale of liquids that turn a blank paper into money etc. THEY COULD BE A FRAUD
- The "trileros" are tyrant specialists and it is frequent to see them in the central squares and streets of the city or typical of tourists. With three cards, glasses or walnut shells, they encourage passers-by to discover where a card is located or a ball is hidden. Do not participate in that so-called “game”, you will lose insurance
- Among the most well-known and common scams is the “tocomocho” scam that makes the victim believe that he can benefit from the payment of a winning lottery participation or the “stampede scam”, which consists of passing newspaper clippings for legal tender tickets.
- If you are using a vehicle, do not leave any valuables in sight, either on public roads or in public car parks.
- In the event of an attack or theft, it is important to look at the characteristics that stand out of the potential aggressor and notify the National Police or the Civil Guard.
HOME SECURITY:
- The house should not externalize the absence of life. Do not close all the window blinds. Leave clothes lying down, etc. There are cheap electronic devices that allow you to program the lighting of lights, TV, use of the answering machine of the phone.
- Do not leave valuable objects on the terraces without enclosure.
- Take note of the serial number of all appliances, in order to facilitate their identification in case of theft.
- Leave completely closed the windows that give to hidden or more unprotected places (interior patios, uncrowded streets, etc. ).
- Before leaving your home, jealously check windows, door locks, water keys, light, etc., which are well closed, as accidents can also occur inside your home and shorten your desired vacation.
- In the presence of any strange person to notify the Security Forces. Take note of anything or vehicle that looks suspicious.
- If you have a trustworthy person, provide you with a set of keys to the home, with the intention that you usually empty your mailbox or you can open and close the blinds of the home, simulating the habitability of your home.
- Do not spread in public places the date when you are going to start your vacation, as well as the time you leave your home, since we never know who may be listening to such a conversation.
- If you do not have any trusted person who can take care of your home, you can count on more sophisticated means, such as light timers, blinds etc.
