The Government approves aid for the areas of Valladolid, Ávila, Soria and Segovia affected by the floods after the passage of the ‘Juan’ storm
ZAGEPC Declaration
March 8, 2024.- The Government has declared the areas of the provinces of Ávila, Soria, Segovia and Valladolid seriously affected by a civil protection emergency (ZAGEPC) that were affected by the floods as a result of the storm 'Juan' that struck the Community last January.
In the case of the province of Soria, the declaration of affected area has also been agreed as a result of the strong snow episode that was recorded in the days of 19 and 20 January, which left more than 200 incidents and which, among others, forced to mobilize the Military Emergency Unit to rescue hundreds of vehicles trapped on the roads.
In this way, the four provinces will be able to benefit from the subsidies managed by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory for the recovery of damages caused to municipal infrastructures and the provincial road network, which allow them to pay 50% of the expenses.
With regard to fires, the Government has also agreed to activate aid in those areas affected by the fire that was registered in Arcos de Jalón (Soria) in September 2023 and that originated in the town of Matalavilla, in the municipality of Palacios del Sil, last November.
In order to be able to articulate these subsidies, it is essential that the competent bodies of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory have information on the estimated costs of the works of repair or restitution of the damage that these disasters have caused to the municipal infrastructures and the provincial road network.
