Fernando Galeano oversees the development of the Agricultural Employment Plan, which allows the hiring of 377 agricultural workers
Visit to the municipalities of Mombeltrán and Guisando
February 27, 2024.- The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Ávila, Fernando Galeano, has visited the municipalities of Mombeltrán and Guisando to monitor the development of the actions that are framed within the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), which currently benefits 377 people in the province.
This is a programme of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, which seeks to encourage the recruitment of people in depressed rural areas during the least active months of their sector, that is, between December and February, for the realization of works or services of general and social interest.
Among its framework objectives, to correct imbalances, solve the problems of workers in the agricultural sector in these areas, providing work and professional experience, and promote employment among groups with difficulties of access to the labour market, such as women in rural areas.
A program with more than 1.6 million euros in Ávila, the province “most benefited from Castilla y León” and which, according to Galeano, represents an important boost to rural employment, with the hiring of 377 unemployed workers, preferably agricultural contingents and mostly women, full-time for a period of three months.

In total, 44 municipalities in the province currently benefit from this program. Among them, the municipalities of Mombeltrán and Guisando that, thanks to the program, have formalized the temporary hiring of eleven people each.
Workers who in both municipalities are carrying out different tasks and interventions of maintenance and clearing of roads, landscaping, restoration works, improvement in supply and sanitation networks, paving of the public highway and conditioning of public facilities.
Galeano was able to see this at first hand during the visit to both municipalities, during a day in which a follow-up commission was held in the facilities of the City of Guisando to know the state of the works carried out.
During visits, Galeano thanked the social agents, as well as the collaborating institutions, Diputación and Junta de Castilla y León, and especially the mayors for “their great involvement” which, together with the Government, “contribute to the development of a plan that is key to the maintenance of the population in the rural environment of the province.”
Finally, the subdelegate of the Government wanted to recall that, through the SEPE, and with positions of the PRTR (Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan) funds, digital training courses are being developed since 2023 for working women and former workers of the PFEA. Courses for which about 200 women have already passed and which in the first months of this year is also having a great reception.
