Ángel Blanco transfers government support to technical engineers to strengthen Zamora’s strategic position on the map of green hydrogen
Meeting with the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Zamora
February 21, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Zamora, Ángel Blanco, held a meeting with representatives of the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Zamora (COGITIZA) in which he transferred the support of the Government of Spain to reinforce the strategic position of the province on the map of green hydrogen.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of COGITIZA, José Luis Hernández, who also holds the position of President of the General Council of Professional Associations of Industrial Technical Engineers of Castilla y León; and the Deputy Dean, José Simón Fuentes.
The deputy delegate recalled that Zamora is a key point of the first renewable hydrogen corridor planned in the European Union, the H2Med, which will turn Spain into the first renewable hydrogen hub in the world and will connect the centers of production of green hydrogen with domestic demand and the two international interconnections of Spain with France and Portugal.
The H2Med includes two cross-border infrastructures, one between Zamora and Celorico da Beira (Portugal) and another, submarine, between Barcelona and Marseille (France), which are promoted by the respective carriers and managers of gas systems: Enagás on the Spanish side, REN on the Portuguese side, and GRTgaz and Terega on the French side.
Ángel Blanco has expressed the importance of public-private collaboration to undertake this transformation and has agreed with the representatives of the technical engineers in the great opportunity it represents for the future of Zamora.
For his part, the dean and vice-dean of the collegiate organization have presented their initiative of industrial advisory offices (Industrial Advisory Offices) with which they seek to promote the reindustrialization of Zamora and other depopulated areas of Spain by attracting European aid that facilitates the installation of large companies.
COGITIZA defends the province’s great potential to re-industrialize by taking advantage of water and green hydrogen, an approach on which the subdelegate has expressed his support. In this regard, the subdelegate has committed to the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Zamora to facilitate a meeting with the Hydrographic Confederation of the Douro.
