February 13, 2024.- The Labor Inspectorate visited more than 2,000 companies during the past year in the province of Segovia, as part of the tasks entrusted to it. As a result of the service orders (more than 7,000) and visits, this service carried out more than 8,100 actions, with which some 730 infractions were verified, with 1,700 workers affected and an amount in penalties greater than 2.7 million euros. Among the subjects in which violations were observed, work was found (with 144); occupational health and safety (with 84); employment and migrations (with 61); and Social Security (with 418).
This was one of the issues discussed today by the Subdelegate Assistance Committee at its meeting this morning in which it reviewed the management of the General State Administration (AGE) in the province in 2023.
The deputy delegate of the Government, Marian Rueda, who chairs the commission, highlighted “the excellent work, professionalism and dedication of public employees who work in all services, units and departments of the General Administration of the State for citizens.”
ALIENS
The Office for Foreigners of the Government’s Subdelegation received 3,010 files in 2023, including an increase of 19.6 percent in the initials of temporary residence and paid employment (with a total of 396) and 18.3 percent in those of long-term residence (with 254).
Citizens attended in person in this office exceeded 14,000, an 8.5 percent increase over the previous year.
INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION
Between January and September, the Information and Registration Office of the Government Subdelegation processed a total of 38,761 files, including digital certificates (with more than 3,000), an increase of 27 percent compared to 2022.
The office provided general information to more than 9,500 citizens and 1,068 processed the approval and validation of foreign qualifications.
As for the Administration near you program, which aims to bring the AGE closer to citizens, mainly those who live in rural areas, 50 municipalities of the province were visited.
CIVIL PROTECTION
With regard to the Civil Protection Unit of the Government Subdelegation, it should be noted that, over the past year, there were 116 days on which the warning network for warnings of adverse weather events issued by AEMET was activated, of which 23 were of orange level (eight for minimum temperatures, six for winds and four for snowfall, among others).
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
In this area, it should be noted that in the middle of last year the UNICO Rural Demand Program was launched through the awarding company, Hispasat. This plan offers the possibility to contract a connection of at least 100Mbps download at a price of 35 euros per month, without additional costs and an aid of up to 600 euros for the cost of the installation. It provides 100% coverage of the population in those areas where there is no access to fixed networks of at least 50 Mpbs. Through this satellite service, any citizen will be able to connect during the time that the UNICO Broadband program completes the deployment of fiber to one hundred percent of the population in 2025.
The Provincial Head of Telecommunications Inspection in Segovia authorized in 2023 a total of 279 new telephony stations, 16 percent more than in the previous year, bringing the province to 2,105.
It should be said that 28 percent of the new stations authorized in 2023 correspond to 5G technology, a total of 78, of which 61 have already been put into service.
SEPE
The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) ended the year by recognizing unemployment benefits at 0.06 days, compared to the national average delay of 1.57 days.
On December 5, 2023, the six-month Parque Central de Artillería Employment Workshop was started, and a grant of 1,34,900 euros for each of the two professionalism certifications that it includes, Auxiliary operations of continuous coatings in construction and Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas, with ten students in each area.
In addition, in July last year began the Plantel Employment Workshop of the entrance to El Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, with a duration of 12 months, for a total of 24 working students and a grant of 612,837.84 euros.
DEFENSE
Among the usual activities of the Subdelegation of Defense is the dissemination to citizens of the culture of the Armed Forces and access to the military career. In this section, 57 talks and 26 visits to schools were held, in which some 2,700 students from ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training participated. The Subdelegation of Defense of Segovia was in 2023 the one that carried out the most activities of this type in the whole of the national territory.
Meanwhile, between January and December last year it received 143 requests for information related to access to the Armed Forces (both face-to-face, by phone or through the Ministry of Defense website), 31 percent more than in 2022.
In the calls for access to the ranks of officers, non-commissioned officers, troops and volunteer reservists, 95 applications were processed, of which 21 percent were submitted by women.
INE
The National Institute of Statistics (INE) focused, over the past year, much of its work on the electoral census, taking into account that municipal commissions were held on May 28, general on July 23 and partial premises (Cabezuela) on November 26.
It should be remembered that elections to the European Parliament will be held on 9 June. In these elections, nationals of European Union countries who have previously expressed their intention to vote in Spain for these elections may vote. To facilitate this management, the Electoral Census Office sent in the last days of October a communication to EU citizens residing in Spain, with the data of their pre-printed voter registration.
In total, 1,983 communications were sent. They were sent only to those who had not made the formal declaration of intention to vote in elections prior to the European Parliament (high in Padrón after August 30, 2018).
Formal statements of will to vote in Spain for the elections to the European Parliament can be made by internet, postal mail or personally in the City of residence on an ongoing basis.
ROADS
The investment in conservation in the State Road Network in 2023 in the province of Segovia exceeded 20.3 million euros, of which more than 13 corresponded to the A-1 in its stretch between Santo Tomé del Puerto and the border with the province of Burgos.
