February 11, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid, Jacinto Canales, has sent to the heads of the State Security Forces, National Police and Civil Guard, in the province, his congratulations and gratitude for the intense work carried out this Saturday by the more than 1,150 troops of both bodies, in a day complicated by the claims of various groups coinciding with the Goya Awards ceremony in Valladolid.
Canales highlighted “the professionalism of all the agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard who served yesterday in Valladolid and without whose invaluable support it would not have been possible to hold the award gala of the Goya Awards, with all the positive it represents for the city”. “Really, it is a pride and a privilege for me, as a subdelegate of the Government, to know that I am counting on them,” said Canales.
The special mechanism coordinated by the Government’s subdelegation for the Goya Awards to be held normally, despite its coincidence with citizen demonstrations communicated as required and the forecast of uncommunicated protests, has been successful and has allowed the Vallisoletans to enjoy all that the Spanish film festival entails and the guests to the gala to have access without problems.
The subdelegate highlighted the “exquisite behavior of the demonstrators who claimed ‘Respect for Castile and Leon’, a protest that was held with prior communication to the Government Subdelegation, in accordance with the regulations”
The government subdelegation prepared and coordinated in recent days an unprecedented deployment of troops to protect the rights and freedoms of all people and ensure their safety this Saturday.
Different units and groups of National Police and Civil Guard have worked throughout the day in a coordinated action also with the Municipal Police, as is usual in this type of events with a large influx of people.
