February 9, 2024.- The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Valladolid, Jacinto Canales, has taken office today in an event attended by the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo; the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain, and the Delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen.
Renewal of the State Pact against Gender Violence
The equality minister, Ana Redondo, has advanced that the government “will defend and renew the State Pact against Gender Violence, which is more necessary than ever because we have the deniers of gender violence, feminism and equality in institutions.”
Redondo recalled that “today, 92.8% of Spaniards consider gender violence to be a worrying problem, according to the CIS.”
The Minister of Equality has highlighted the number of women killed: 58 in 2023, 3 in 2024 and 1,243 since 2003. “And that is what shows that it is essential to renew that Pact of State, as an ethical and democratic commitment,” Redondo emphasized.
Sense of duty, respect, dialogue and wisdom
The government delegate, Nicanor Sen, welcomed the new deputy delegate, stressing the call of the public service and the sense of duty implied by the office and urged him to be the link of dialogue and wisdom so that “the Vallisoletans and Vallisoletans know the work of the government, feel the closeness of their policies and have to present their demands and make them their own.” In this line, he advised the new deputy delegate to “flee the provocations and respond to them with respect and responsibility.”
Sen has alluded to the situation of the camp and the demands of these days and has thanked the security forces and bodies, “all without exception, for their great effort and the skill, understanding and respect they have shown at this time when they saw it difficult to carry out their role of guaranteeing the security, that of the demonstrators themselves and that of the rest of the citizens.”
At this point, the delegate has again shown his support for farmers and has made it clear that the Government amended the Food Chain Law to prevent sales at a loss; that it has allocated more than 4,000 million euros in the last two years to measures in favor of farmers and ranchers and that it will maintain the refund of the special tax on hydrocarbons to agricultural diesel.
Social progress
The new deputy delegate of the Government, Jacinto Canales, has stressed that he will work “to improve the lives of the citizens of Valladolid, with equity and weighting, but above all with honesty.”
Canales said that he was proud of the progress of the progressive government to which he now joins and has cited important social measures such as the increase of the interprofessional minimum wage by 54%, already at 1,134 euros per month; the revaluation of pensions that benefits more than 120,000 pensioners in the province of Valladolid; the Minimum Vital Income, which guarantees a safety net to about 20,000 people in Valladolid, and the electric social bonus that reaches 21,000 people in Valladolid.
The subdelegate of the Government considers a great advance the labor reform that has managed to increase indefinite contracts by 187% in Valladolid in relation to the data of 2019, without forgetting that, before reaching the labor market, in the educational field, more than 10,500 students of the province study supported by scholarships.
The Subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid has also alluded to violence against women as an unbearable obstacle that prevents society from moving forward and has committed his work to combat it, with the support of the State Security Forces and Bodies and the Unit against Gender Violence of the Subdelegation of the Government.
Currently, there are 659 active cases of male violence in the VIOGEN system in Valladolid, where 14 women have died at the hands of their partners or ex-partners since feminicides began to be counted in 2003.
Finally, Canales has recognized the work of the public employees of the General State Administration in the province, the day after the result of the Survey of satisfaction of the attention of the AGE in the territory, which values with a note of 4.91 out of 5 points the attention that the citizens receive from the personnel of the delegations and subdelegations of the Government.
In this sense, the program ‘The Administration near you’ has already visited 117 municipalities of the province to attend to about 800 neighbors who have been interested in various procedures and has helped them to obtain 570 digital certificates, one of the most demanded procedures by the citizens, along with the registration work.
The new subdelegate has offered, from the point of view of institutional loyalty, as a channel of communication, collaboration and cooperation with the Autonomous Community and with the Local Entities, in particular, on the impact on the territory of the State financing programs.
