December 11, 2023.- The Official State Gazette (BOE) today publishes the regulatory bases and the call for grants from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the year 2023, worth 21 million euros, for the financing of innovative projects of territorial transformation and fight against depopulation.
Digital Rural Challenge program
These grants are part of the Digital Rural Challenge Programme, financed with funds from the Recovery Plan (National Digital Skills Plan, Component 19), a programme aimed at financing training actions in digital skills of the population in areas of demographic challenge.
Thus, the call for aid published today adds to the distribution of 69 million euros made to the Autonomous Communities at the Sectoral Conference of Demographic Challenge in April 2023, completing the overall amount of the Program (90 million euros).
Beneficiaries of grants and application deadline
These grants help to close the digital divide, allowing the improvement of digital skills of the most vulnerable groups in rural areas: the elderly, people in situations of unemployment or children and youth. In the same way, this call responds to the transversal axis of social and territorial cohesion of the Recovery Plan, and also incorporates the gender perspective.
Through this aid, from which non-profit social entities and local entities may be beneficiaries, training programs for the acquisition of basic skills of digital navigation, carrying out digital procedures with public administrations or solving problems in the digital environment will be financed.
Applications must be submitted within 60 calendar days from tomorrow, December 12, and may be submitted at the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge’s electronic headquarters.
