November 28, 2023.- The deputy delegate of the Government, Marian Rueda, visited today the Montes and Aserradero Center of Valsaín and Cabeza de Hierro and the National Center of Environmental Education (Ceneam), accompanied by their directors, José García Gámez and Mercedes González de la Campa, respectively.
The Montes de Montes de Valsaín and Cabeza de Hierro Center, belonging to the Autonomous National Parks Agency of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, manages the lands in which the Matas and Pinar de Valsaín mountains are located in the municipal area of the Real site of San Ildefonso and those of Monte Cabeza de Hierro in Rascafría, as well as the movable and immovable property assigned to the center; the Serradero de Valsaín; the Salto del Oblido Hydroelectric Power Plant and the forest house of Lubia, among others. It has various recreational areas distributed throughout its territory and with the Visitor Center of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park ‘Valle de Valsaín-Boca del Asno’.
Among the tasks that it undertakes, we can highlight the actions aimed at the conservation and monitoring of biodiversity, management of the forest uses that are carried out in its lands, the prevention and extinction of fires, as well as a public service that develops guided routes in different places of the Segovian slope of the National Park and informs and accompanies visits of the Visitor Center-Valsaín-Boca del Asno, as well as the Royal Workshop of Aserrío de Valsaín.
For its part, the Ceneam is a reference center in environmental education that has been working since 1987. They are a resource facility at the service and in support of public and private groups that carry out environmental education programs and activities.
Among the functions it develops are the collection and dissemination of specialized information in environmental education; the design and development of programs of awareness and citizen participation; the elaboration of educational materials and exhibitions; the organization and support of seminars and other forums of reflection and debate; the development and execution of environmental training actions; and the cooperation with other public and private entities for the promotion of environmental education.
