On Friday 24th the deadline to submit applications to the Cultivation Program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food ends
November 18, 2023.- The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Map), maintains open until next Friday, November 24, the deadline for submission of applications to participate in the Cultiva 2023 Program. Aimed at young farmers and ranchers, the project offers training stays in model farms distributed throughout the Spanish geography. In Castilla y León there are 45 farms that participate in the initiative.
The CULTIVA Program, which has a budget of 1.2 million, has the collaboration of representative entities of the agricultural and livestock sectors of Spain, as well as model farms linked to them, which aims to facilitate access to training and practical knowledge of the national agrarian youth, responding to their training needs.
The objective is to offer young farmers and breeders practical training in model farms through training stays, where they have the opportunity to acquire and consolidate in situ knowledge on technical and management aspects that they can apply in the development of their own agricultural activity.
The training stays, developed for periods of between 5 and 14 days, offer young people 7 hours of daily training on different topics, such as the planning and economic and financial management of farms or the use of digital technologies, among others.
In the nine provinces of Castilla y León there are model farms that allow these training stays to be carried out. In Valladolid there are farms in Pesca de Duero, Bahabón, Megeces, Villanueva de Duero, Olmedo and Catromonte. Professional agricultural organizations of a general nature and at the state level can participate, as well as any entity, association and representative organization of the agricultural and/or livestock sector of a national non-profit.
This edition has extended the possibility of participating agricultural professionals under 41 years of age, or who have settled in the last five years with an age of less than or equal to 40 years. It also opens up the possibility of choosing farms with the same or different productions to those of the applicants, regardless of the sector and the territory.
The participants of this training experience can select the exploitation where they wish to make the stays in the catalogue offered by the MAP. This catalogue provides information by territory, as well as dates and agricultural or livestock production. The stays will be made from the month of January 2024. More information can be obtained
The expenses of accommodation, maintenance and transportation of young people are covered by the CULTIVA program. In addition, the participants have a compensation for replacement expenses to hire a person who attends and manages their exploitation during this period.
The stays offered are organized by the collaborating entities of the program: Agricultural Association of Young Farmers (ASAJA), Association of Celtic Pig Breeders (ASOPORCEL), Agrifood Cooperatives of Spain, Coordinator of Farmers and Livestock Organizations (COAG), San Isidro Mico, Union of Agricultural Family Schools (UNEFA), Union of Small Farmers and Livestock Producers (UPA), and Union of Farmers and Livestock Unions.
