November 4, 2023.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, visited yesterday the Matadero Frigorfique el Navazo de Fuentes de Béjar. There he learned about the projects of expansion of the facilities. As announced by Barcones, the Government of Spain will improve the section of the N-630 that runs close to this plant of transformation and processing of the largest Iberian pig in the world. El mencionado tramo de la carretera N-630 circula paralelo a la A-62.
The Salamanca Roads Unit is currently drafting the project to improve this two-kilometre stretch. Once technically approved, the execution of some works whose approximate cost is estimated at about 600,000 euros will have to be put out to tender.
This execution will allow trucks with a maximum authorized mass greater than 40 tons to use the aforementioned section of the N-630, which will improve their access to the El Navazo site, with the consequent improvement of the logistics of the company.
During his visit to Virginia Barcones, which was accompanied by the mayor of Fuentes de Béjar, Gustavo Rodríguez Sánchez, he met the facilities of this company, which is one of the most important in the region, as well as the project of expansion of the facilities in order to be able to use all the derivatives of the industrial process such as fats or residual products. El Navazo Refrigerator Slaughterhouse generates 300 direct jobs and another 700 indirect jobs.
