Unemployment increased in Castilla y León by 2,293 people in October and stood at 111,215

• Registered unemployment fell by 10,167 people (- 8.38%) compared to the same month of the previous year • Fall in all autonomous communities in year-on-year terms • The unemployment benefit coverage rate in September stood at 57.6% • 38.18% of contracts signed in October are indefinite, reinforcing the stability of the labour market

November 3, 2023.- The number of unemployed people registered in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) of Castilla y León, at the end of October, has risen by 2,293 people (2.11%) in October compared to the previous month.

This increase is more moderate than usual in a month, in October, in which they are incorporated into the labor market and in which both the active and the occupied population of Spain are at historic highs.

The registered unemployment fell by 10,167 people (-8.38%) compared to the same month of the previous year. The total has been located at 111,215 people.

The number of members of Social Security in Castilla y León has reached 969,227 this September. This figure represents an increase of 0.41% (3,939 participants) compared to the previous month, but an increase of more than 2% (21,400 participants) compared to the month of October 2022.

Unemployment by sector in Castilla y León

By economic sectors compared to September, the registered unemployment fell in the No Previous Job group by 18 people (-0.16%).

It increases in Services 1,623 people (2.09%), Industry 255 people (2.95%) and Agriculture 377 (8.39%). Among the Construction sector it increases by 56 people (0.85%).

Unemployment by sex and age in Castilla y León

Female unemployment has increased by 1,208 women (1.84%) compared to September and stands at 66,931.

Male unemployment also rose by 1,085 men (2.51%) to a total of 44,284.

Unemployment among young people under 25 years of age rose in October by 247 people (2.81%) compared to the previous month and stood at 9,042.

Unemployment in other autonomous communities

The unemployment recorded in October of this year increases in practically all the autonomous communities. The largest increases in absolute terms were recorded in Andalusia (7,401 persons), Castilla-La Mancha (4,266 persons) and Catalonia (4,261 persons).

With regard to October 2022, the registered unemployment fell in all the autonomous communities.

Contracts in Castilla y León

The total number of contracts registered during the month of October has been 66,745.

In October 2023, 25,481 employment contracts of an indefinite nature were registered, representing 38.18% of all contracts.

Benefits of the month of September in Castilla y León

The beneficiaries and beneficiaries existing at the end of the month were 64,065 figures similar to that of the same month of the previous year.

The unemployment benefit coverage rate stands at 57.6%.

The total expenditure for September 2023 amounted to 68.6 million euros.
