Virginia Barcones welcomes the 54 agents of the Civil Guard who take possession of their place in the Command of Zamora
The province of Zamora has more than 700 agents distributed in 24 quarterings
October 18, 2023.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, has welcomed the 54 agents of the Civil Guard who have taken possession of their position in the Command of Zamora. After the transfer contest, the province of Zamora wins 18 agents.
Virginia Barcones welcomed the 54 agents during an event in which she was accompanied by the Subdelegate of the Government in Zamora, Ángel Blanco, and the lieutenant colonel and head of the Command, Héctor David Pulido.
The first thing that the government representative has done is to thank the agents for the vocation of service to the citizen and for betting on the province of Zamora to serve the citizenship. “There can be no more noble dedication than to work for one’s neighbor. Thank you all for your vocation of service and for demonstrating that vocation in the province of Zamora”, he said.
After the transfer contest carried out by the Civil Guard, 54 agents are incorporated into the Zamora Command; 42 men and 12 women, of which 32 are from Castilla y León. They are 1 officer, 4 non-commissioned officers, 2 ropes and 47 civil guards. They will be distributed in three quarters of the 24 quarts that the province has.
With the transfer contest carried out the province will win 18 agents since in that contest 36 agents, 14 of them civil guards in practice, have opted for another destination. With these movements the coverage rate remains at around 90%. Virginia Barcones has indicated that Castilla y León is one of the safest communities in our country and Zamora occupies “a privileged place in Castilla y León”, in terms of security.
The province of Zamora has a crime rate of 32 criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants, the second lowest in all of Castile and Leon. Data from the last crime balance for the first six months of the year indicate a decrease of 1%. That decrease is almost 7% if you look at conventional criminality. The rise in cybercrime, common across Europe, prevents global data from being better.
Virginia Barcones has explained that the Civil Guard plays a fundamental role in bringing security to the 248 Zamoran municipalities. He added that Zamora has an ageing population, “elderly people who live in small towns”, for whom the presence of the Civil Guard “is comforting because they see in you those ‘angels’ to go to in case of emergency, in case of need”.
“The main task of the Civil Guard is the fight against crime, but there is no doubt that your protective work goes a little further and involves other areas of life”, said the Delegate of the Government who explained that the agents of the Benemérita are available “24 hours a day for 365 days a year”, an availability that the Zamoranos value.
The province of Zamora has more than 700 Civil Guard agents deployed. In the total there are just over 7,000 agents that the Civil Guard has Castilla y León. The State Security Forces and Corps account for more than 10,000. In this regard, the Government has made an effort in recent years to improve the number of agents deployed in the Community after the decrease of up to 13,000 troops throughout Spain between 2011 and 2017. Mil in Castile and Leon.
Today, the number of members of the State Security Forces and Corps in Castilla y León is very close to the historical record reached in 2011. “I can assure you that the new public offer of employment will allow us to exceed the 10,254 agents in which there is that historic maximum,” said Barcones.
The government delegate has made it clear that this effort involves the improvement of the work teams and infrastructures available to the Civil Guard in the province. In this regard, he has given as an example the quartering of Fuenteaúco to which the last touches are being given after an investment of three million. “This is an infrastructure that will improve the service that the Benemérita will offer in the area and also the living conditions of the comrades who are there doing their duty,” said the Government delegate.
Before concluding, Barcones stressed that she is proud of the agents of the Civil Guard as they are “guarantors of our democracy”, while ensuring the safety of citizens. He has again thanked the agents for their commitment to Zamora, a province in which they will serve with “honesty, professionalism and loyalty”, so that the Zamorano people “will be proud of you”.
