September 22, 2023.- The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has approved the public information file and definitively the project of route for the improvement of capacity and functionality of the Autovía de Castilla (A-62), in the stretch between Simancas and Tordesillas, from km 140,500 to 151, in the province of Valladolid. The corresponding announcement will soon be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The estimated budget of the works amounts to 55.27 million euros (VAT included).
The objective of the project is to develop the necessary actions to increase the capacity and improve the functionality of the Autovía de Castilla (A-62) in the aforementioned section, with a length of 10.5 km, through the construction of a third lane per direction of circulation.
In addition, the project includes the refurbishment of three existing links in the stretch (links of Velaliza Villamarciel, San Miguel del Pino and El Montico), with four new upper passes, a new lower pass of fauna over the Arroyo de la Reguera and a retaining wall of land.
After this approval, Mitma already continues with the drafting of the construction project, where this action is defined with the degree of detail necessary to make its construction and operation feasible, as established in Law 37/2015, of September 29, of roads.
Development of the A-62
The Autovía de Castilla A-62, between Venta de Baños and Tordesillas, is a motorway of the so-called “first generation”, built through the use and duplication of a pre-existing conventional road.
This project is included in the planning of Mitma to improve the capacity and functionality of this motorway, belonging to the Trans-European Road Network, in which the public information file has also been approved and definitively the project of tracing the Cigales -Simancas section; progress continues in the Informative Study of the Sale of Bathrooms-Dueñas section, and the project of the Dueñas -Cigales section already has the favorable Environmental Impact Statement (DIA).
