Tomorrow the new free subscriptions of Cerca ías, Rodalies and Media Distancia for the third semester come into force

August 31, 2023.- Tomorrow the new free subscriptions of Cerca, Rodalies and Media Distancia, valid for journeys from September 1 to December 31, 2023, come into force.

Renfe has reinforced the systems and information points to remind users that they must purchase free subscriptions for the third quarter, since current subscriptions can only be used until today, August 31. So far, 240,000 new free subscriptions have been issued (140,000 from Cerca and 100,000 from Media Distancia) for the next four months.

Renfe reminds users that in order to speed up the processing and avoid unnecessary waits, the purchase of subscriptions is possible through the Renfe Neighbourhoods app, and in the case of Media Distancia subscriptions through the web www.renfe.com and usual sales channels (stations, self-selling machines, etc. ). To do this, the customer must be registered in advance.

For Avant railway services, the 50% discount on subscriptions is maintained. This same discount applies to other high-speed routes that have been declared a Public Service Obligation (PSO), which operate under the same conditions as an Avant Pass.

Get free membership quickly and easily

The Proxies app allows the acquisition of the recurring subscriptions of Proxies and Rodalies in a fast, simple and agile way, generating a QR code that is downloaded on the mobile phone and that can subsequently be used in the access control of the stations.

To purchase the subscription, although it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros in the case of Neighbourhoods and Rodalies, and 20 euros for each conventional Media Distancia service. The payment by card will allow the automatic return of the deposit, once it is established that the condition of having made 16 trips during these four months has been fulfilled.

For children under 14 years old without a ID, a recurring subscription has also been created for Media Distancia services, which can be purchased in renfe.com or by the Renfe app. The father, mother or guardian may acquire, by means of their NIF, NIE or passport, a maximum of four children’s subscriptions for an origin and destination, during the period of validity.

Passengers who have used the free Short Distance, Rodalies or Media Distancia pass in the second quarter of 2023 will be refunded, provided that they have met the conditions of the same. Those who paid the deposit by card will be automatically refunded.

To facilitate communication with customers, Renfe has set up a specific telephone line, 91 919 15 67, to report these free subscriptions.
