August 18, 2023.- The Security Board of Torrecoalleros has closed today, in the meeting that has held in the City Council of the municipality, the device for the patron saint's parties that will be held between August 24 and 27.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Government’s Deputy Delegate, Marian Rueda, and Mayor Torcolecalleros, Rubén García, with the participation of City Council Councillor Ester García; the Civil Guard Commander, José Ángel Giro; the Provincial Traffic Chief, Pedro Pastor; the Section Chief of the Highway Unit, Alberto del Río; the legal technique of the Junta de Castilla y León, Belén Peña; the Chief of the Civil Protection Unit of the Deputy, Mariano Otero; and a Civil Protection Saer.
The Security Board has made a review of the festival program, focusing on the events that most people are expected to bring together. The verbenas, the concert, the discomóvil and the gastronomic events will be the acts that will concentrate a greater number of citizens.
The deputy delegate of the Government stressed that “the security device that we finalize today has the objective of ensuring that these festivities are enjoyed with total tranquility.” In addition, he called for the collaboration of the peñas so that the festivities run normally and encouraged neighbors and visitors to “participate in the festivities of Torcolecalleros, with responsibility and respect.”
He also pointed out the convenience of not carrying glasses or glass bottles in events that take place on the street. Meanwhile, he recalled that the Government Delegation in Castilla y León and the Government Subdelegation have launched, for the patron saint’s festivities held this summer, the campaign ‘Ser libre. To be alive’ of the Ministry of Equality, against violence against women, in any of its forms. In addition, glasses and tapas have been given to the City Council to be distributed at the festivities, to raise awareness about this issue.
Marian Rueda called for “extreme precautions to prevent fires, and for activities that may pose a danger not to be carried out, in these hot and dry days in which the risk of a fire is high.”
For its part, the Civil Guard will establish controls on access to Torcolecalleros to prevent anyone who has consumed alcohol or drugs from driving a vehicle and may cause accidents.
