August 2, 2023.- The Government Subdelegation hosted this morning the meeting of the security operation of the XLV edition of the Cycling Tour to Burgos in which, among others, heads of the Provincial Council - as organizer of the sports event -, of the Civil Guard, General Directorate of Traffic, National Police Force, Junta de Castilla y León and town councils of the towns through which the race goes.
The meeting, led by the Deputy Secretary General of the Subdelegation, Nacho Gutiérrez, has analyzed each of the five stages, which will take place from August 15 to 19, to predict the different incidents.
Once again, the safety of the race is mainly entrusted to the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, which will have a contingent dedicated to this event and which will have the reinforcement of patrols of other units and specialties, in addition to the own en route security team that provides the organization of the test.
An average of 65 Civil Guard agents will be mobilized on a daily basis, including a helicopter from the General Directorate of Traffic, which will increase to 100 in the two mountain stages, when there is also a helicopter from the Armed Institute. The National Police will also strengthen security during the initial day of Burgos. The deployment is completed with the local police of the different municipalities, civil protection and volunteering.
