July 20, 2023.- The Monitoring Committee of the Agreement for the Execution, Financing and Exploitation of the Sanitation and Purification Works of Soria has met today in the City Council of the city to analyze the evolution of the works in which more than 60 million euros are to be invested.
The meeting was attended by the technical director of ACUAES, Jerónimo Moreno; the mayors of Soria and Los Rábanos, Carlos Martínez and Gemma Hernández, respectively, as well as the head of the Environmental Service of Soria of the Ministry of Environment of the Junta de Castilla y León, who have been
Accompanied by the technical and financial teams of each agency.
The sanitation and purification operation in Soria includes the construction of a new treatment plant, an emissary tunnel and a complementary work for the incorporation of flows and the environmental recovery of the area where the current treatment plant is located. Once the works are completed, the installation will serve an equivalent population of 135,000 inhabitants with an average flow of 24,000 m3/day.
During the meeting, it was noted that the works are progressing at a good pace, with 80% of the work carried out in the treatment plant, while the project of the emissary tunnel is progressing more slowly, reaching almost 50% of the work due to the difficulties in the excavation of the tunnel which, finding a very fractured land, has considerably reduced the advance yields of the tunneler.
With regard to the treatment plant, the civil works under urbanization have already been completed, leaving only a part of the buildings and roads to finish. Currently, work is being carried out on the installation of electromechanical equipment, boiler and electricity.
If the current rate continues, in the event that there is no unforeseen event, the works of the EDAR will be completed before the end of the year, and it is planned to be put into operation once the emissary tunnel ends and the waste water can be sent; this will be followed by a start-up period that will last for 12 months.
With regard to the Emissary Tunnel project, in the first half of July a change of tracks was installed inside the tunnel that allows the crossing of locomotives and reduces the maneuvering time, thus allowing to gain in excavation performance. At the beginning of August, it is planned to start the collector on the left bank of the Golmayo River, thus putting an end to the external collectors.
In the work of Incorporation of flows, in execution in the area of the current EDAR, in the coming weeks the connection shaft with the general collector will be finished and the execution of the rest of the archetypes will continue to have finished the performance before the end of this year.
