June 07, 2023.- The Secretary of State for Defense, María Amparo Valcarce, and the Rector Magnifico of the University of Salamanca, Ricardo Rivero, have signed this afternoon in the Subdelegation of the Government of Zamora, an agreement for the joint realization of R+D+I activities in the field of sustainability and energy efficiency, linked to the reactivation of the quartering of Monte la Reina in Toro (Zamora).
With the commitment of the Government of Spain, its President and the Minister of Defense, the signing of this agreement is a boost to a tractor and modernizer project that began to be forged in 2020 and that will be a reference in scientific and technological development in the area of sustainability and energy efficiency in Defense.
The Ministry of Defense has already carried out a first phase of actions, such as the conditioning of the land, the perimeter enclosure or the demolition of buildings. The second phase, which is about to start, will address an ambitious programme that includes, among others, the treatment and management of plant waste or the creation of road infrastructures.
The collaboration agreement that has been signed today, constitutes an unparalleled opportunity for cooperation between the University of Salamanca and Systems Engineering for the Defense of Spain (ISDEFE), both parties acquiring commitments that will bring knowledge and value to the future center of high technology and military research of the Spanish Army in Monte la Reina.
