June 07, 2023.- The National Police has today recognized the daily work of the private security sector to prevent crime, as well as its collaboration with law enforcement.
This morning, the Police Station’s assembly hall hosted a simple event to celebrate Private Security Day, presided over by the Government’s deputy delegate, Lirio Martín, accompanied by the Chief Commissioner, Miguel Ángel Martínez, and in which distinctions have been awarded to members of this sector.
In total, seven security guards and one field guard have received honorable mentions of type ‘B’, which recognize the work of the winners and their dedication, as well as their involvement in their daily work. Seven of the distinctions have been awarded on the proposal of the Provincial Police Station and one of the Civil Guard.
Private Security Day is celebrated under Interministerial Order 704/2013, with the aim of recognizing the relevance of this sector to Spanish society.
The subdelegate of the Government highlighted “the role of the private security sector to avoid criminal acts, strengthen citizen security and social coexistence, so that Segovians can live more tranquil”.
Lirio Martín also highlighted “the essential collaboration and cooperation of private security workers with the National Police and other bodies and forces.”
In addition, he recalled that Article 104 of the Spanish Constitution states that: “The Security Forces and Corps, under the Government, will have the mission to protect the free exercise of rights and freedoms and guarantee citizen security.” “To achieve this goal, cooperation with the private security sector is extremely important.”
Currently, the number of security guards working in Segovia exceeds 200 workers, who serve in 11 security companies.
In 2012, the Integral Plan of Collaboration of the National Police with the Private Security Sector was launched, the ‘RED AZUL Project’, which seeks a model of professional collaboration, to enhance that cooperation.
