May 12, 2023.- The Government Subdelegation has hosted the meeting of the security operation of the new edition, the eighth, of the Women's Tour of Burgos in which, among others, the heads of the Provincial Council - as organizer of the sports event -, Junta de Castilla y León, commanders of the Civil Guard, General Directorate of Traffic, and municipalities of the localities through which the race goes.
The deputy delegate of the Government, Pedro de la Fuente, has highlighted that, this competition contributes to consolidate the women's sport. “It is important to see how more and more professional athletes become referents for thousands of girls and adolescents who find their model in them,” she says. “Until recently sport was synonymous with men’s sport; fortunately this is a reality that is changing, women’s sports events like this are attracting more and more interest,” she celebrates. In parallel, De la Fuente celebrates that this event will once again become an “unbeatable showcase of our province”.
As for the operation, in the course of the meeting, each of the four stages has been analyzed, which will take place from May 18 to 21, to predict the incidents that may arise. The security of the race is entrusted to the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, which will have a contingent dedicated exclusively to this event, although it will have the reinforcement of citizen security patrols and other special units. Within the large facility, an average of more than 60 agents will be mobilized daily, who will be supported by their own helicopter in the stage that ends in the Neila lagoons; for their part, the Directorate General of Traffic will have one all the stages. The deployment is completed with the local police of the different municipalities, civil protection and volunteers.
