May 11, 2023.- This morning the Local Security Boards of Ágreda and Almazán were held, co-chaired by the Deputy Government Delegate and their respective mayors, to coordinate the competent actions on the occasion of the Municipal Elections of May 28 and, in addition, in the case of Almazán, for the 61st Exhibition Fair and the festivities of San Pascual Bailón.
In these Local Security Boards, which have been held in their municipalities, were present, in addition to the co-chairs of this body, those responsible for the Civil Guard and the Local Police, as well as the general secretary of the Territorial Delegation of the JCyL in Soria.
The deputy delegate of the Government, Miguel Latorre, has indicated that, to the usual actions foreseen in the Plan of Prevention, Protection and Anti-Terrorist Response for the current Level “4” of activation, some measures of reinforcement should be added in the events of greater public attendance.
May 28, 2023 Municipal Elections
Since the publication on April 4, 2023 of Royal Decree 207/2023, of April 3, which calls for local elections for May 28, 2023, the different Administrations prepare the necessary infrastructure for the day of municipal elections to pass normally.
The Local Security Boards of Ágreda and Almazán have studied the device to be developed with the necessary personal means corresponding to the Civil Guard and the Local Police to ensure a normal development of the electoral campaign, as well as the right to vote of the citizens on Sunday, May 28.
In the municipality of Ágreda there are 4 polling stations and two polling stations (City Council and Sor María de Jesús School Group). In turn, in the municipality of Almazán there are 6 polling stations and two polling stations (Diego Laínez Children’s College and Diego Laínez Primary School).
Almazán Trade Fair
The opening of the 61st edition of the Almazán Exhibition Fair in the Park of La Arboleda will take place this Friday, May 12, at 12:00 hours. On the other hand, at 22:00 h. will begin the concert offered by the group Celtas Corto in the Plaza Mayor.
The Adnamantino City Council, for its part, has contracted the services of a security company that will have two security guards from 9:00 p.m. on Sunday the 15th (the Fair ends on the night of Sunday the 14th).
San Pascual Bailón y los zarrones
Once again, there will be zarrones and dancers to visit various streets and squares celebrating San Pascual Bailón on May 17th and 18th, whose traditional ritual has deserved to be declared a Festival of Regional Interest. The events with the greatest concentration of people are those that have specially occupied the attention of the Local Security Board.
On the 17th, at 12:00 h. and in the church of San Pedro, it is worth mentioning the Mass sung by the Polyphonic Choir of Almazán, in honor of San Pascual Bailón. Next, procession with the saint and performance of dancers and zarrones, accompanied by bagpipes. At 15:00 h., in the Park of the Arboleda, lunch campera. In the evening, from 20:30 to 22:30 h. and from 00:30 to 04:00h. In the early morning of Thursday 18, in the Plaza Mayor, there will be verbena.
On the second day of the festivities, May 18, at 12:30 h. in the church of San Pedro, mass of the deceased, and new performance of dancers and zarrones through the streets and squares of the town. In the evening, from 20:30 to 23:30 h., last dance.
