Urda (Toledo).- The Advanced Command Post of Urda (Toledo) this morning hosted a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the railway accident that occurred yesterday Wednesday in this town, in which at least 69 people have died and 53 others remain hospitalized.

The event was attended by the delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, together with the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Secretary General of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones; and the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, as a sign of mourning and solidarity with the victims, their families and the people affected by this tragedy.

Minute of silence in the Delegation and the Government subdelegations in Castilla-La Mancha

At 12 noon, a minute’s silence was also observed at the doors of the Government Delegation in Castilla-La Mancha, in Toledo, headed by the Subdelegate of the Government in the province, Carlos Ángel Devia, together with the Minister of Agriculture of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Julián Martínez Lizán.

Representatives of the agencies of the General Administration of the State, of the Security Forces and Bodies and of the Army, as well as political and institutional representatives of other administrations, personnel of the Delegation and members of entities such as the Red Cross have participated in this event.

The subdelegations of the Government in Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Guadalajara have also joined at 12 noon in this tribute in memory of the victims.

The flags of the Government Delegation fly at half-mast in a sign of mourning and will remain so until 24:00 hours on Saturday, October 31, in accordance with the national mourning decreed by the Government of Spain.
