Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, presided on Tuesday the minute of silence at the headquarters of the Delegation of the Government to express the rejection of the latest murder by gender violence of Maritza Hellen, a 49 year old woman in A Coruña, on June 15, 2025, and has given her deepest condolences to her relatives and friends.
There are 14 women killed in 2025 by their partner or ex-partner and 11 minor creatures that have been orphaned. Since 2003, 1,308 women have been killed by gender violence and 63 boys and girls have been killed by gender violence against their mothers and 480 children have been orphaned by gender violence in Spain.
Violence due to being women
Milagros Tolón has insisted that “this scourge must end, we must not tolerate any kind of violence against women because they are women. It is an attack on life, freedom, equality and dignity.”
The minute of silence was attended by the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, of the Government Delegation, Carmen María Zaballos; workers of the Delegation and representatives of the State Security Forces and Bodies, Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha and councilors of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Toledo. And on this occasion, different members of the Platform of People with Intellectual Disability or of the Development of Castilla-La Mancha of Full Inclusion have also been incorporated.

The Ministry of Equality, through the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, recalls that the telephone 016, online consultations through the email 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel on the number 600 000 016 and the online chat, accessible from the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
At 016 you can ask for advice on the resources available and the rights of victims of all forms of violence against women, as well as legal advice from 8h to 22h every day of the week, with attention in 53 languages and a service adapted to possible situations of disability.
On the other hand, it should also be remembered that in an emergency situation you can call 112 or the emergency telephones of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062). In case it is not possible to make a call and in a situation of danger, you can use the ALERTCOPS application, from which an alert signal will be sent to the police with geolocation.
These means of assistance can be activated by the victim and also by anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender violence.
