Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited today, accompanied by the media of Toledo, the works of restoration of the building of the Delegation of the Government located in the Plaza de Zocodover. Works that are, as he has said, “in a monumental environment and that, as you have seen, are totally necessary for security and patrimonial issues”. He has been accompanied, among others, by Emilio García Navarro, director of the work.
Milagros Tolón recalled that with this work, which has a funding of 10 million euros from European funds, “the heritage will be preserved and the safety of the building, accessibility and energy efficiency will be guaranteed”. An action of the State Mercantile Society of Real Estate Management of Heritage, on behalf of the Ministry of Territorial Policy”.
Roman Wall and Islamic Remains
Including “the recovery of the remains of the Roman wall and the Islamic remains, which will be exhibited for Toledans and visitors who want to see them. A work in a BIC (Good of Cultural Interest) environment that we will recover and exhibit”.
The building, the delegate of the Government recalled, was built in the 40s of the 20th century and now proceeds “to its integral rehabilitation, maintaining facade, balconies and roofs. The interior has been demolished and a new structure will be created with a central patio, thereby achieving more natural light and better distribution.”
It will also proceed “to the improvement of the energy envelope, with insulation, carpentry and glazing; also restoring both the Blood Arch and the Porticada of Zocodover. Toledo wins, Toledo wins and Castilla-La Mancha wins,” said Milagros Tolón.
