Madrid.- The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, will invest 4,214,713.14 € in the recovery and valuation of five monuments of the Historical Heritage of Castilla-La Mancha, which represents a contribution of 72.53% of the total cost of the works by the Central Executive.
The resolution, which is provisional in nature, is conditional on the approval of the implementation projects and the financial contributions committed, once accepted it will be final.
This investment “is a clear demonstration of how the Government of Spain works to protect and value our historical legacy, not only as a symbol of our identity, but also as an engine of economic and tourist development,” said Government delegate Milagros Tolón.
Among the planned actions, the recovery of the wall of Talavera de la Reina stands out, which will have a contribution of 1.8 million euros. This project “will not only preserve an asset of great historical value, but will also boost the cultural and economic projection of Talavera and its region”.
On December 12, a new Collaboration Agreement was signed between the Ministries of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and of Housing and Urban Agenda for joint action in the Spanish Historical Heritage, through the 2% Cultural, with a validity of four years.
The first meeting held by the Joint Committee, on December 19, chaired by the Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, and attended by the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano, approved the prioritized list of the actions previously valued by the Valuation Committee, within the framework of the Call for Grants published in the BOE of July 22, 2023, raising the proposal to the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, for the dictation of the Resolution (EML0 million).
Program 2% Cultural
The “2% Cultural” program is the main tool of the General Administration of the State to guarantee the conservation of the historical, cultural and artistic heritage of Spain, prioritizing the generation of activity, creating employment and regenerating urban or rural environments.
The development of the 2% Cultural Program proposes a model of action with broad social content, based on the following criteria:
The fundamental economic support comes from the execution of the public work.
The Spanish Cultural Heritage is recovered, respecting the legacy received and fostering the feeling of belonging and pride for one’s own.
Public use is promoted by promoting the social approach to Heritage.
Employment and wealth are generated in the areas where the recovered patrimonial elements are located.
It contributes to the general objective of generating quality tourism.
Since the implementation of the 2% Cultural Programme, 1,237 applications have been approved in projects totalling an implementation budget of 1,177 million euros, the aid provided by the 2% Cultural Programme being 756 million euros, which is 64% of the execution amount. To these 1,237 applications already definitively approved, the call published in July 2023 is now added, the fifth published by this competitive competition procedure, with a credit availability of 80 million euros.
