Toledo.- During the month of November, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) has completed the work of rethinking the jurisdictional limit lines of 9 complete municipalities of Castilla la Mancha, adding a total of 39 lines.
This concludes the fourth and final campaign of the third agreement signed for this purpose between the National Geographic Information Center (CNIG) - an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility through the National Geographic Institute (IGN) - and the Ministry of Development of the Community Board of Castilla la Mancha. Of these municipalities, 6 are from the central and northern area of the province of Ciudad Real and the remaining 3 from the south of the province of Toledo.
Municipalities
The municipalities completely recovered have been, in Ciudad Real: Villarrubia de los Ojos, Torralba de Calatrava, Carrión de Calatrava, Daimiel, Bolaños de Calatrava and Poblete. And in Toledo: Burguillos, Sonseca and Consuegra. These 39 lines correspond to a total of 356 kilometers and 952 boundary markers; and affect lines from 30 municipalities.
Fieldwork
The campaign began between February and June with the fieldwork. These consist of the location on the ground of the landmarks described in the original record and the associated technical notebook, both those that remain at present and those that have disappeared, and their reconsideration or recovery by means of topographic adjustments, assigning precise UTM coordinates H30 (ETRS89) to all of them.
A total of 14 engineers from the Geographic Institute coordinated by the IGN Service in the region, which is organically dependent on the Delegation of the Government of Castilla la Mancha, have participated in this work.
During the month of September, the meetings were held to present the results of the work for each recovered limit line and for each pair of neighboring municipalities. They were also given the provisional documentation, so that they could raise any questions that might arise.
Municipal commissions
Finally, between November 4 and 21, the meetings of legal endorsement of the works by the municipal commissions of deslinde (constituted for this purpose by each city council) have been held. Each meeting was also attended by the municipal commissions, the IGN engineering team that worked on each line, the Director of the Regional Service, who coordinates the project and the representatives of the Junta de Castilla la Mancha. In addition, two of these lines were also provincial boundaries, so representatives of the corresponding deputies were incorporated into these municipal commissions.
These additional signed records do not replace the original records that established the boundaries between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th, they only append precise coordinates to them using GPS techniques. In this way, it will be ensured with precision that each city council exercises its competences within its territorial scope.
Next year 2025, the work of the fourth agreement will begin, which plans to recover during its 3 years of duration 2,625 border pillars, corresponding to some 160 jurisdictional limit lines that delimit 58 complete municipalities. Sumando en total de algo más de 1.000 km lineales.as asciende a 1.287.
