Letur (Albacete), October 30, 2024.- The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited this Wednesday the town of Letur (Albacete) to know first-hand the rescue work that is being carried out after the passage of DANA, which has especially affected this municipality, where 6 people are still being sought, and Mira (Cuenca), in which an 88-year-old woman has died.
Milagros Tolón has conveyed a message of support to the victims, their families and the people affected by the torrential rains and has highlighted the coordination of the administrations, the State Security Forces and the other emergency services in the rescue work and attention to the affected neighbors.
“The most important thing is coordination between all administrations: City Council of Letur, County Council of Albacete, Community Council and Government of Spain are involved in the work of rescue and attention to the victims,” said the delegate, who reiterated that the priority is the search for the disappeared.
MOE Effective
Milagros Tolón has reported that he has contacted the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, to request more resources for the rescue and recovery work, a request that has been made with the sending of 40 personnel of the Special Operations Command (MOE) of the Land Army that are going to be incorporated throughout the day.

On the other hand, the other focus of concern in Castilla-La Mancha is the municipality of Mira (Cuenca), where the death of an 88-year-old woman has been confirmed as a result of the floods. In that locality “the UME is working from the first hour of the morning”, after the request made by the Board of Communities.
“The river that passes through this town of 900 inhabitants, which is precisely bordering the Valencian Community, has overflowed and the town has been practically isolated. Many neighbors had to go up to the rooftops and fortunately already with the UME and with the State Security Forces and other services we are carrying out this work of emergency aid,” said the delegate.
