With this inauguration we make public your commitment to citizenship, to public service and to the values of the Constitution that presides over this act. It is a gesture of great transcendence that symbolizes your loyalty with the State, with our region, with the province of Guadalajara and with all the entities, organizations and collectives that make up the social fabric of this land.”
Among other civil and military authorities, there have been Pablo Bellido, president of the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha; Ana Guarinos, mayor of Guadalajara; José Luis Escudero, delegate of the Board of Communities in Guadalajara; and José Luis Vega, president of the Diputación de Guadalajara.
Dialogue, closeness and proximity
The new deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Guadalajara has highlighted “your capacity for dialogue, proximity and proximity, fundamental qualities for the position you already hold. This commitment to citizenship has been exercised throughout your professional life, always linked to education and teaching where you have fulfilled different responsibilities. To this is added your determined defense for equality between men and women, a cause in which we are all involved, to which you contribute by assuming a position of responsibility within the administration and which you can develop from your new functions within the State Administration.”
Milagros Tolón stressed that “equality and the fight against male violence is one of your responsibilities, which are in addition to the other competences that the Subdelegation performs related to citizen security, civil protection, foreigners, work and other services that we provide. Along with this, your work will be linked to the coordination of the policies of the Government of Spain with the other administrations and institutions present in the province, including the 288 municipalities of Guadalajara. With all of them we share the common goal of the well-being of citizens through the provision of quality public services.”
Important challenges
He has detailed some of the “important challenges that as a society have a special impact on this land such as the demographic challenge, climate change, the rise of cybercrime, male violence, the expansion of rights, social justice, sustainable development, employment for young people, housing or the structuring of the territory, to name but a few. The Government of Spain, in collaboration with the other administrations, is responding to all of them with policies that we must continue to implement and adapt.”
The delegate of the Government has made reference to that “Spain is living one of its best moments in recent decades, and the Government begins this political course with a road map marked with six clear priorities: economic competitiveness, labor dignity, Welfare State, housing, equality and peace in the war conflicts that remain open. In this context, the people, their rights and their well-being have been and will be the center of the actions of the Government that you represent in the province of Guadalajara, from active listening, social participation, cordiality and institutional cooperation. These are the values that should govern your management at the forefront of your new responsibilities.”
“You’ll be up to it”
Finally, Milagros Tolón wanted to highlight two more issues, “on the one hand, thank your predecessor in the position for his services at the head of the Subdelegation. Thank you Mercedes for your dedication, it has been an honor to share with you the last months of working together. And finally, also congratulate your family, because this new appointment is also part of them. Dear Susana, in these few days of work it has become clear to me that, like the other subdelegates with more experience in the position, you will be equal to what this great assignment represents for the benefit of the neighbors and neighbors of Guadalajara. Thank you for your step forward, thank you for putting your skills and experience at the service of this province.”
Susana Cabellos, “a Spain of progressive vision”
For her part, the new subdelegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Guadalajara, Susana Cabellos, began her speech by recalling that today, “September 10, this journey begins for me that I undertake with responsibility and enthusiasm, but also the school year begins, a key day in my life for more than 20 years in which I have practiced as a professor of Philosophy. Therefore, I have decided that this intervention will have much of those first classes in which I encourage my students to understand reflection as the central axis for a good life.”
Susana Cabellos, in her speech, recalled that “we live in a democratic Spain, in Europe, we still hear that we are a young democracy, but the times of politics are human times and almost 50 years implies maturity, we are a social democracy with a well-being system of world reference: our transplant protocol, our rational response to vaccination during the pandemic, our education, our citizen security… It is true that it has been a construction of all political and social agents without exception throughout these decades, but this Spain of well-being and equal opportunities is not understood without a progressive vision”.
Banish the rise of totalitarianism
Therefore, he said, “I am proud to accept with humility and responsibility this office of the Government of Spain and its President Sánchez, because I firmly believe in the defense of citizenship rights, both civil, political and, of course, social. Because we are in times of challenges and duties, it is necessary to banish the rise of totalitarianism and the systems of domination that stalk us, from racism to patriarchy. Whether from a classroom, an operating room, a patrol, a window or an office we are at the service of the citizens and the public service is the backbone of the welfare state that our Spain represents”.
Susana Cabello ended with a commitment, “I join this company and will serve with loyalty to all the agencies that depend on the institution I represent, especially the State Security Forces and Corps. Likewise, the doors of the Subdelegation will always be open to mayors and mayors to listen to them, attend to their concerns and help them as much as possible. In short, I will work responsibly in, from and for my land, my province of Guadalajara.”
