Granatula de Calatrava (Ciudad Real). The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited this Wednesday the archaeological site of Oreto-Zuqueca, in Granátula de Calatrava, where she highlighted the investment of 3 million euros that is going to be made for its value thanks to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.
Accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Ciudad Real, David Broceño; the mayor of Granátula de Calatrava, Félix Herrera, and the provincial delegate of Education, Culture and Sport of the Junta, José Caro, the delegate has known the current state of the site, with vestiges of the civilizations that populated the peninsula (Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians) and the project for its rehabilitation.
Milagros Tolón explained that, within the Program to Improve Competitiveness and Revitalize the Historical Heritage, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism has allocated 18 million euros to Castilla-La Mancha to finance 8 projects to improve the Historical Heritage with tourist use, among which is this site.
The objective of this program, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, is to promote cultural tourism as a hallmark of Castilla-La Mancha through projects of maintenance and rehabilitation of the historical heritage that clearly incorporate the improvement of the tourist use of these goods.
In this way, “we are recovering our history and our identity, preventing the loss of elements of great patrimonial value, showing our cultural wealth and attracting visitors to boost the local and regional economy”, said the delegate of the Government; all this, “with a model of sustainable development and respectful of the natural environment”.
The project aims to preserve, maintain, enhance and rehabilitate the site for tourist and cultural use, with measures related to universal accessibility, use of new technologies, energy efficiency and ecological rehabilitation.
