In the first month of application of the program Summer Joven Renfe has sold more than one million discounted tickets for young people between 18 and 30 years old (both inclusive) to travel this summer through Spain and the rest of Europe between July 1 and September 30, 2024.
In the journeys of these first weeks in which young people have already been able to enjoy these discounts, since June 19, when the program began, an average of more than 33,000 tickets have been issued daily.
This number of tickets sold for Verano Joven during 2024 represents 62.4% more young people who are using the train thanks to this initiative with respect to the same period of last year’s program. During the first 30 days of the Young Summer 2023 initiative, 615,745 tickets were sold.
In addition to the government-approved sales, the company also includes a special additional promotion for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who are members of its More Renfe loyalty program with a free trip. Thanks to this promotion, every two trips made between July 1 and September 30, 2024 travelers get a 100% discount code to buy a ticket on selected AVE and Long Distance trains in the following three months.
Tickets for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 have a 50% discount on High Speed (AVE and Avlo) and Long Distance trains, with a maximum discount of 30 euros per title. The discounts are also 50% for the simple Avant tickets and 90% for the rest of the services of Media Distancia or the network of
Metric Width.
Interrail discounts
In addition, the Junior Summer program offers 50% discounts on Interrail’s 10-day Global Flexible in 2 months, provided it is purchased through Renfe, so that young people between the ages of 18 and 30 can travel around Europe.
To take advantage of the measure, young Spaniards or foreigners with legal residence in Spain, born between 1994 and 2006, must register on the form available on the website of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to confirm that they meet the required requirements. If they comply with them, they will get a personal code
and non-transferable that can be used to purchase discount tickets and the Interrail pass. After registration, it must be at least 24 hours before making the first purchase to verify that the eligibility requirements are met.
